Surplus and Specialty Lines – Sharing Economy Segment - Remote

Underwriter Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced underwriter within our Sharing Economy team.  This position can be both remote and/or in one of our offices.

Summary:

Responsible for review and analysis of underwriting data to build and maintain a profitable book of business within applicable department.  Manages agency relationships through continued customer service and marketing activities.  Collaborates with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.

 

What you will do:

  • Works with manager/mentor to meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals determined by the department.
  • Builds skills to make independent underwriting decisions and maintain proper file documentation.
  • Works within assigned letter of authority.
  • Develops knowledge of department products and services.
  • Gain analytical and strategic decision making skills by working closely with mentor.
  • Participates in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base. May participate in projects.
  • Effectively displays ability to build and foster agency relationships through marketing activities.
  • Manages assigned territory, agents and accounts
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

What you will bring to C&F:   

·         Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of underwriting experience, with 2+ years specific to commercial auto preferred.

·         Pursuing or having insurance industry designations such as AINS, CPCU, CRIS, etc. a plus.

·         Possesses strong communication and analytical skills to pursue new business and manage a renewal book.

·         Proficient in software needed to succeed in department.

·         Excellent organizational and time management skills.

·         Possesses or is pursuing underwriting and industry designations  applicable to area of specialization.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $64,950 to a maximum of $108,250. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
