Job Description

A Surety C&F Underwriting Technical Associate provides support to the Underwriting Regions by handling the booking of bonds, organizing and filing key documents and handling inquiries from both underwrites and agencies, all in accordance with established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

Underwriting Technical Associate-Surety

Primary Location: Northeast United States- Remote/Hybrid

What YOU will do:

  • Provide support to assigned regional underwriting team.
  • Ensure policy transactions are booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet the corporate time service standards.  Such transactions are new business, renewals, riders, cancellations, close outs, etc.
  • File electronic documentation into the imaging system, page mark and label the documents appropriately adhering to the corporate protocols.
  • Responsible for providing agencies with bond numbers via tracking system and reconciling monthly with the underwriter.
  • Communicate as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions.
  • Timely response to producer and underwriter requests and inquiries.
  • Participate in review of departmental workflow and process with an eye towards  improvements and efficiencies.
  • Research and respond to billing and collections inquiries and collaborate with remittance team as needed.
  • Assist underwriters with account financial analysis as needed.
  • Assist with special projects, upon request.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5 years of equivalent experience related to insurance operations.
  • Self-starter who works closely with underwriters and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and math skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of policy administration/rating insurance systems.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion.
  • Strong Microsoft skills.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $50,925.00 to a maximum of $84,875.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
