Job Description

Business Analyst – Transportation and Sharing Economy

 

Job Summary:

 

Seeking a problem solver, excited to work in a continually evolving environment, who can provide insightful solutions and utilize technology to improve processes and business growth.  This role collaborates closely with our digital, underwriting and operations’ teams to develop groundbreaking solutions and improve inefficiencies across our digital platforms.     

 

The Business Analyst role requires an understanding of insurance workflows and systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, have a service mentality, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

 

The Business Analyst is a member of the Transportation and Sharing Economy Operations’ team, which will support technology platforms across the department.  Transportation and Sharing Economy underwrites admitted and non-admitted Auto, General Liability, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business.

 

What you will do:

  • Effectively communicates the health and status of the project/timeline including the work status, roadblocks and proposed solutions to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  • Gathers and documents backlog items in a simple, clearly defined, well understood manner to support the development and implementation of solutions to business problems.
  • Creates, manages and prioritizes the backlog to maximize business value.
  • Coordinates testing and quality assurance activities to ensure system functionality.
  • Participates in testing features and partners with digital to ensure releases move to production timely and accurately.
  • Responds to suggestions and problems as reported by users. Gains a full understanding of each issue, investigates and follows it to resolution, while involving appropriate parties and providing status updates.
  • Collaborates closely with digital, underwriting and operations to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Documents processes, including Visio cross-functional workflows and step-by-step guides.

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Experience supporting underwriting operations particularly in Auto, General Liability, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, and 3+ years of related working experience
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking and problem solving skills, multi-tasking abilities.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and a proven record of accomplishment in delivering projects successfully and timely.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload and projects in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Experience operating within a diverse and global team composed of staff located in multiple locations and time zones.
  • Willingness to learn from new experiences and new situations.
  • Skilled at communicating and presenting to a varied audience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira is preferred.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $56,200 to a maximum of $93,600. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
