Job Description

UNDERWRITING TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE (UTA)

 

A Surety C&F Underwriting Technical Associate provides support to the Underwriting Regions by handling the booking of bonds, organizing and filing key documents and handling inquiries from both underwriters and agencies, all in accordance with established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide support to assigned regional underwriting team.
  • Ensure policy transactions are booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet the corporate time service standards.  Such transactions are new business, renewals, riders, cancellations, close outs, etc.
  • File electronic documentation into the imaging system and label the documents appropriately adhering to the corporate protocols.
  • Provide agencies with bond numbers via tracking system.
  • Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions.
  • Timely response to producer and underwriter requests and inquiries.
  • Manage shared mailbox according to procedure to ensure timely handling and processing of all items.
  • Participate in review of departmental workflow and process with an eye towards improvements and efficiencies.
  • Assist underwriters with account financial analysis as needed.
  • Support underwriters by providing administrative support, such as running line cards, credit checks, account setup, form preparation.
  • Research and respond to billing and collections inquiries, and collaborate with remittance team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or six or more years of equivalent experience related to insurance operations.
  • Self-starter who works closely with underwriters and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and math skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of policy administration/rating insurance systems.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion.
  • Strong Microsoft skills.

Differentiator:

  • Experience with surety operations and systems (agency or surety)

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $50,900 to a maximum of $74,700. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
