The Underwriting Assistant works within a team of underwriters, completes underwriting processes, and communicates with agents and internal departments addressing the needs of the underwriting team.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Rating accounts, preparing quotes and completing the binding process for policies and endorsements.
  • Order loss control surveys and underwriting reports as directed, documenting the underwriting file accordingly.
  • Ensure policy transactions are completed timely and accurately in line with company standards.  Transactions include new business, renewals, endorsements, non-renewals and cancellations.
  • Communicate and follow up with producers, as needed, to obtain necessary information prior to and after binding the account.
  • Communicate with various departments to respond to policy questions and resolve issues.
  • Perform all pre-quote work required by underwriting, i.e., risk meter, ISO, MSB, Web Research, D&B, Mapping (all ancillary resources).
  • Issue NONR/Cancellations & Reinstatements in accordance with underwriting & state guidelines  
    (NONR = Notice of Non-Renewal).

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Three + years experience commercial property and casualty multi-line rating experience required with an emphasis on property and general liability.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ISO commercial lines policy rating and issuing transactions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook, Image Right. WINS experience is a big plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, as well as math skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow protocol with an emphasis on quality and customer service.
  • Will abide by branch policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with Seneca’s risk control procedures. Additionally, the successful candidate will be highly motivated with a positive outlook, possess a service mindset, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $39,200.00 to a maximum of $57,400.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs
