This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in automation and manual testing, the ability to manage offshore, onshore, and nearshore teams, and a strong background in modern QA methodologies.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving quality initiatives, improving test coverage, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, DevOps, and product management, to maintain high-quality software releases.

Job Description

What you will do:

 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed QA team across offshore, onshore, and nearshore locations.
  • Define and implement QA best practices, ensuring process alignment across teams.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and KPIs for testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration between QA, development, and product teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
  • Own and optimize the resource allocation strategy for global QA operations.

Quality Strategy & Process Improvement

  • Define, implement, and continuously improve the QA strategy, including manual and automated testing approaches.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards (ISO, ISTQB, etc.) and regulatory compliance where applicable.
  • Develop and enforce test planning, execution, and reporting processes to improve test coverage and reduce defects.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives to minimize defects in production.

Automation & Tools Implementation

  • Drive the adoption of automation frameworks and CI/CD testing strategies.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, NUnit, Cypress, TestNG, or JUnit.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Ensure the development and execution of robust test scripts to automate functional, regression, and performance testing.

Testing & Quality Assurance Execution

  • Oversee functional, regression, performance, security, and UAT testing efforts.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts that align with business requirements.
  • Ensure testing coverage across API, UI, mobile, and database layers.
  • Implement Playwright's Codgen and other modern automation techniques to enhance test efficiency.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the QA liaison between development, product, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide visibility into QA progress, challenges, and outcomes through comprehensive reporting and dashboards.
  • Drive a culture of quality across engineering teams through training, documentation, and process reinforcement.

 

What YOU will bring to C&F:

 

  • 8+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance role is required
  • 4+ years in a role managing others is required
  • Experience managing and scaling offshore, onshore, and nearshore QA teams is preferred
  • Hands-on expertise in test automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, NUnit, Cypress, etc.).
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is required
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman, Insomnia, or SoapUI is required
  • Exposure to AI-driven testing tools and methodologies is required
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with test management tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test integration.
  • Knowledge of performance and security testing best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $95,000 to a maximum of $130,000. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
