Job Description

Vice President, Travel

 

The A&H Specialty Business Unit takes a forward-thinking, flexible approach to solutions that span a robust slate of products tailored to needs in Special Risk, International Travel Medical, retail and wholesale Travel, as well as Occupational and Alternative Risk.

 

Information about the Role, Line of Business and Team:

Responsible for review and analysis of underwriting data to build and maintain a profitable book of business within the A&H SBU team under minimal supervision. Manage new and existing partner relationships through continued customer service and marketing activities. Contributes as a technical expert in both underwriting and product knowledge within the Travel industry.

 

What you will do:

  • Underwrite and develop mastery of Travel rating methodologies
  • Manage profitable travel accounts and programs all throughout the life cycle of the business
  • Provide technical support and market intelligence to NJ and CT teams
  • Work closely with CT team to provide expertise and help develop underwriting talent
  • Assist with the development and execution of the strategic plan and vision of the SBU in conjunction with A&H leadership and Share Services
  • Meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals as determined by SBU leadership.
  • Participate in P&L management
  • Work with team to develop processes that promote efficiency
  • Engage in activities relating to Salesforce
  • Participate in development of new products and assist in refining current products and pricing.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on purpose, progress, and resource requirements needed to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and identifies emerging threats to the Travel department.
  • Clearly articulate the business unit’s value proposition.
  • Perform underwriting due diligence, onboarding, and audits.
  • Demonstrate strong mentoring, relationship building, planning and organizational skills.
  • Guide and direct team members in their personal development and career progression. 
  • Drive performance excellence through goal setting, quality feedback, and performance appraisals within the team (midyear and annual).
  • Create a working environment where productivity can be sustained and accomplished, and where innovation and personal growth is encouraged and realized.
  • Drive and role model the A&H culture, values and C&F core competencies within their teams.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What YOU will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of underwriting experience.
  • Strong product knowledge, exposure analysis skills, forms and coverage knowledge, and rating principals and mechanics.
  • Advance knowledge in Microsoft Office tools – Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Reinsurance experience preferred.
  • Robust communication and analytical skills to pursue new business and manage a significant renewal book.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact successfully with internal and external clients.
  • Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible and open to an ever changing, fast-paced environment
  • People leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of department products and services.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $167,600 to a maximum of $223,500. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
