Job Description

Information about the Role, Line of Business and Team:

The VP, Marketing role leads C&F’s marketing function, collaborating with multiple divisions, business unit leaders and other business/product representatives across C&F to develop and execute external marketing and communications strategies that support business objectives and strategies. The role is responsible for maintaining a consistent voice and positioning of marketing collateral, presentations, articles, and website content with a focus on raising brand awareness, cultivating broker and client relationships and delivering measurable ROI.  This role is an integral leader on the broader Marketing and Corporate Communications team, both leading and collaborating across the functionally organized team.

 

What you will do:

  • Pro-actively lead external marketing and communication strategy, including campaign development and execution, strategic messaging development, content refresh and identifying/putting new marketing ideas into practice that will move the business needle
  • Build positive partnerships with multiple division and profit center leaders
  • Serve on the leadership team of the Corporate Marketing & Communications team, acting as a conduit to the team and the business leaders, pro-actively participate in strategic planning and pointing out where the team can support the business strategies
  • Manage a team of marketers, including design and video experts, and multiple vendors
  • Routinely provide input on cross-department matters, share marketing success stories and promote new marketing opportunities or areas of improvement with division and profit center leaders
  • Coordinate with the Head of PR to develop & execute media & PR strategies, connect leaders with the corporate communications team to establish C&F in strategic areas of expertise and position various experts or leaders for (self) publication and dissemination, and link to meaningful-ROI campaign activity
  • Collaborate with Events & Sponsorship team to deliver best-in-class, branded events
  • Maintain C&F’s websites in coordination with the AVP – Website Leader to keep content current and compliant with a focus on highlighting relevant employee and market stories, coordinating with social media amplification and thought leadership and other PR activities, collaborating on digital (and cross channel) campaigns
  • Partner with teams across the organization to co-create, amplify, and elevate messages and achieve goals and strategic initiatives; key author of C&F’s brand and value messaging
  • Conduct regular outreach sessions with business leadership to understand key strategies and proactively contribute to C&F and division marketing outreach and market awareness and visibility
  • Bring new ideas, new channels and tools to the business for consideration, especially in support of digital marketing
  • Maintain campaign metrics and employ metric driven decision-making for continuous improvement
  • Develop materials, collateral and channels for both marketing and sales outreach and multi-channel  distribution
  • Copy edit collateral to maintain consistent voice and representation across channels
  • Work cross-functionally to establish where various divisions or profit centers need to be present/visible/heard, to help leverage participation in conferences and events
  • Support speaking/presentation/storytelling skills across a team of Subject Matter Experts
  • Manage a master calendar of external marketing activities
  • Provide the leadership necessary to maintain a motivated, productive and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority.

  • Demonstrate strong mentoring, relationship building, planning and organizational skills.

What YOU will bring to C&F:

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills, coordination, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Capable of working across complex, decentralized organizations and environments prone to regular change
  • Fast paced, with capability to self-manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to use creative and critical thinking to identify and solve problems
  • Nurture and lead marketing team members with varying levels of experience and skill
  • Background in premier events, presentation mentorship, and impactful storytelling

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in PR, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 15+ years’ experience in insurance marketing & communications
  • Property & Casualty insurance industry knowledge, Accident & Health insurance knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of the social media landscape, particularly as it relates to P&C and A&H insurance and intermediated distribution models
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with social media platforms, SEO measurement and content development
  • Familiarity with Adobe suite, Salesforce, marketing project management platforms

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $153,500.00 to a maximum of $225,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
