Job Description

Seeking an Associate Underwriter to work within a dynamic, highly technical, faced paced business environment.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Triage new business to ensure all required information has been received, request additional information as needed
  • Review renewal business to ensure all required information has been received, request additional information as needed
  • Solicit renewal information from agents/brokers 30-45 days out from expiration to ensure file is complete for UW
  • Prepare underwriting documentation forms and workbooks and enter general information
  • Review workbooks for accuracy or to update as requested by UW’s
  • Analyze and compile loss information for underwriter review including pulling currently valued loss information into the underwriting files
  • Prepare order to bind emails, quotes and binders on new and renewal business
  • Review/Approve policies and endorsements to ensure accuracy
  • Assist underwriting with the management of account status in Submission system
  • Review all policies for specific requirements such as filings and/or successful proof of coverage verification
  • Follow up with producer for additional information and required signed forms (TRIA, UM/UIM, Tax forms, etc)
  • Communicate and follow up with producers, as needed, to obtain necessary information prior to and after binding the account
  • Communicate with various internal departments to respond to policy questions and resolve issues
  • Task bound files to Operations Team for policy issuance
  • Act as a conduit between Underwriters and Operations Team for all items
  • Manage broker of record letter issues
  • Manage premium finance issues and cancellations
  • Handle Auto MVR process
  • Submit accounts for additional Risk Engineering services as required
  • Follow-up on surveys with vendor for reports or results as necessary
  • Review Surveys for initial assessment and escalate to underwriting as needed
  • Diary any remaining post-binding subjectivities for receipt within the noted timeframe
  • Provide customer service to existing accounts
  • Participates in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base. May participate in projects

 

What you will bring to C&F:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, procedures, and forms with emphasis on casualty lines of business
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $39,800.00 to a maximum of $74,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
