The Operations Department within Crum & Forster’s Accident & Health division is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Professional to join our Insurance Accounting team in Eatontown, NJ. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate internally with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Compliance, other Finance and IT teams, as well as externally with the division’s business partners.


Job Description

What you will do:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly reinsurance cession statements for ceded program business
  • Prepare and reconcile general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with providing documents for internal and external audit requests
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end closes
  • Act as backup for other functions within the accounting unit
  • Participate in the improvement and documentation of financial and operational processes
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships across functional teams to resolve issues
  • Contribute to a cooperative team environment in order to meet department deadlines
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure data accuracy
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior personnel

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in insurance accounting preferred
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook and Power Point experience
  • Prior internship or work experience in bookkeeping, accounting or insurance (preferred, but not required)

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $44,000.00 to a maximum of $64,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
