Job Description

The UWE Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the business strategies and operational excellence of the Commercial & Executive Division. This position combines hands-on operational responsibilities with people leadership, maintaining a partial production load while driving team performance, process optimization, and a culture of continuous improvement.  Looking for someon in the NJ/NY area or fully remote.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams:
    Effectively manage, coach, and inspire a team by overseeing time off requests, timesheet approvals, workload allocation, and task distribution to maximize productivity and engagement.
  • Drive Operational Excellence:
    Ensure strict adherence to SLAs, accuracy standards, and compliance requirements, while continuously seeking opportunities to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Foster a Collaborative Culture:
    Promote an open, communicative, and inclusive team environment through regular one-on-one meetings, monthly retrospectives, and transparent feedback mechanisms.
  • Performance Management & Development:
    Set clear objectives, conduct quarterly CITE reviews and annual performance evaluations, and support ongoing professional development for all team members.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing:
    Oversee, develop, and deliver training programs and documentation for both team members and Underwriting partners, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational consistency.
  • Regulatory & Reporting Compliance:
    Oversee compliance with Bureau, DMV, and third-party reporting requirements, ensuring all policy transactions are rated, booked, invoiced, and issued accurately.
  • Quality Assurance Leadership:
    Champion the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) for the team, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Problem Solving & Escalation:
    Respond to inquiries, research solutions, and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    Create and analyze ad hoc reports using reporting applications to inform operational decisions and support business objectives.
  • Agile Ways of Working:
    Ensure the team operates according to agile principles, including daily stand-ups, monthly retrospectives, and active participation in guilds.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Participate in weekly BSG Stand-Ups and collaborate with other leaders to align on best practices and drive division-wide initiatives.
  • Special Projects:
    Lead or contribute to special projects as requested, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to evolving business needs.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Experience:
    Bachelor’s Degree and  5+ years of commercial lines progressive experience, with a proven track record in operations and team leadership.
  • Attention to Detail & Decision-Making:
    Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound, independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Process & Innovation Mindset:
    Ability to follow established guidelines and best practices, while also identifying and implementing process improvements and new tools.
  • Exceptional Communication:
    Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels, both in-person and virtually.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    Demonstrated ability to comply with and monitor departmental policies, quality review authority levels, and C&F’s risk management controls.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Flexibility:
    Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Leadership Attributes:
    Highly motivated, positive, and outgoing, with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong service orientation, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $43,800.00 to a maximum of $82,400.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
