Job Description

The Operations department of the Crum & Forster Accident & Health segment is looking for a multi-talented individual to join the Claims team. This Senior Claims Program Specialist will work as part of the claims team proactively supporting a team of Program Managers who manage a portfolio of claim clients (Third Party Administrators and Managing General Underwriters). This position, under general direction, reviews and analyzes over-authority claim referrals, elevates significant exposures to leadership and assists in the preparation of various reports across several A&H product lines. This individual may interact internally with Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance, IT, and externally with the divisions business partners.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Assist in creation of a relationship-based culture through a broad set of activities that include supporting the team management of a diverse portfolio of products and administrators on an ongoing basis
  • Reviews claim referrals submitted by TPAs and MGU’s in the following areas:
    • Conformance with underlying Policy
    • Eligibility of all submissions under the applicable policy
    • Processing all submissions within established internal timeframes
    • Appropriate identification of cost containment/subrogation opportunities using established criteria and prompt referral to ReClaim
    • Approval of all claims within authority
  • Communicate all approval or denial decisions in a clear and professional manner
  • Manage open/pending claim referrals and inquiries to include regular follow-up and escalation to claims leadership where applicable
  • Participate in team member’s meetings with clients and address all open issues no less often than monthly
  • Establish long term customer relationships through prompt and courteous service
  • Provide support in annual reviews of administrators to ensure compliance with company requirements while identifying gaps in process and/or areas for potential improvement at both administrator and company
  • Identify processing, system and/or operational issues within client or company operations in order to ensure claims are paid consistent with policy terms
  • Provide support in the preparation of monthly reporting package including but not limited to inventory reporting, first level (TPA customer service & turnaround) statistics, referral analysis (turnaround times, volume breakdowns) for review by Director and Senior Level Management
  • Responds to other ad hoc requests or initiatives as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited institution with at least 3-5 years’ experience of relevant A&H insurance experience
  • Experience in Occupational Risk and/or Liability claims required
  • Experience working with multiple layers of coverage a plus
  • Multi-state adjuster licenses not required, but a plus
  • Experience in any specialty products such as Group Accident, Workers Compensation Occupational Accident, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability and/or Excess and Surplus Lines is preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Ability to establish a good rapport with all customers
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of service delivery; do what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction; deal with service failures and prioritize customer needs
  • Proficient analytical/problem solving skills
  • Ability to explore, develop and implement new methods and processes which increases efficiency and effectiveness to attain achievement of both individual and organizational goals
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Provide a sustained effort and dedication to getting the job done well, work continuously to produce superior work regardless of obstacles or setbacks

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $48,300.00 to a maximum of $90,800.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
