Information about the Role and Team:

 

The HR Generalist provides high-quality recruitment and generalist support to the business and employees as part of the HR Team within the Accident & Health (A&H) Division at Crum & Forster (C&F).  This position reports to the Director, HR, with a dotted line to our Director, HR for TII. 

 

This role is accountable for a combination of full cycle hourly recruiting and generalist responsibilities.  You will work closely with the A&H HR Team and Corporate Talent Acquisition to deliver value-added service in support of business and division goals with a focus on HR Operations. Your contributions will help drive a wide variety of employee initiatives and programs in support of C&F’s People and Culture initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate has demonstrated results in high volume hourly recruiting and retention as well as a desire to develop their HR knowledge and experience, including in areas of employee engagement and support.  The HR Generalist is a key contributor committed to ensuring a positive employee experience in a fast-evolving organization. The HR Generalist ensures that A&H hires great people who contribute to our healthy culture and want to grow their careers with us.

 

This role is located in our Glastonbury, CT office on a hybrid schedule. Typically, this role is in the office 2-3 times per week with members of the A&H HR Team.

 

What you will do:

 

This position will have two broad areas of responsibility, Recruiting and HR Operations in a generalist capacity:

 

 

Recruiting:

  • Full cycle recruiting for high volume non-exempt positions, including maintaining a pool of viable candidates and managing evergreen requisitions. The amount of time dedicated to recruiting will vary from an estimated 40-80% of time depending upon requisition count and class size.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to sourcing, screening, interviewing, providing constructive feedback and insights to the hiring manager and HR Team, extend job offers and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • You will be a key contributor to ensuring that A&H hires great talent who fit our culture and want to grow their careers with us as measured through retention.
  • Dedicated to providing a positive and engaging candidate experience throughout the recruitment process demonstrating a high level of customer service.
  • Gain strong knowledge and understanding of TII’s business (products, markets), and collaborating with business leaders to support their hiring needs
  • Close coordination with Corporate TA to ensure consistent candidate experience, including actively participating in corporate TA meetings, TA meetings with the business, and maintaining open requisition reporting

 HR Generalist Support:

  • Engage regularly and directly with employees as HR’s first point of contact. Work both independently and in a team environment and establish good rapport with all levels of the organization. 
  • Manage TII Workday entries on a regular basis with a steady volume of processing. This includes reporting changes, title changes, promotions, org changes and other employee actions and follow up processes. Provide backup as needed for entering various employee data changes with accuracy and timeliness
  • Coordinate with Compensation and HRIS teams to ensure completion of Workday changes and troubleshoots any processing issues.
  • Assist and advise TII employees on routine matters including but not limited to general benefits inquiries, disability leaves, FMLA, payroll matters and policy questions.
  • Acclimate new hires to the business via onboarding activities and periodic check-ins.
  • Assist in A&H specific programs/projects such as Job Descriptions refresh, summer internship program, employee events and activities, TII intranet posts and employee communications
  • Provide guidance to employees and people managers on time and attendance matters. Consults with Payroll, when needed.
  • Assist HR Leaders in coordination of performance management and talent development activities, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion programs and other initiatives from Corporate HR
  • Completes assignments accurately, demonstrating interest, pride, and accountability in all areas of responsibility
  • May provide data/reports on bi-weekly, monthly and periodic basis
  • Ensure compliance with current procedures and alert HR Director and/or Leadership of concerns. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of business and division HR goals
  • May support Employee Event Committees.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience is required.
  • A Human Resources Management degree or HR certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ recruiting experience in a corporate setting is required. Experience with Call Center, Claims or high volume preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, SharePoint, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint is required.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, ATS systems and various applications. Workday is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency level updating, creating and preparing reports in MS Excel is required (pivot tables, basic formulas, data validation, creation of charts)
  • Presentation and public speaking skills for competent and clear delivery of information.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $53,500 to a maximum of $78,400. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
