Job Description

Information about the Role, Line of Business and Team:

This role provides critical infrastructure support of the CFSL team in its ambitious growth objectives. This multi-talented individual will be an experienced and highly collaborative member of a team with an efficient and dynamic structure supporting the business unit. The Senior Accountant will identify and execute key operational challenges, opportunities and solutions in support of business unit initiatives. 

 

What you will do:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and reconciliation of monthly DY Cash Balance reports, ensuring accuracy across premium, receipt, pivot, and comparison sheets
  • Process premium bordereaux and claims bordereaux, tracking special adjustments and ensuring timely reporting
  • Complete monthly claim and commission registers, submitting them to internal departments within deadlines
  • Process and verify ACHs and checks for claims and expenses, ensuring uploads to banking systems and proper notifications to Treasury and Accounting teams
  • Act as a lead resource for other analysts, supporting their development and reviewing their work for accuracy
  • Identify and resolve complex reconciliation issues and discrepancies across bank, ledger, and system entries
  • Ensure month-end closing readiness by confirming DY instances are prepared and communicating hard-close notices
  • Analyze partner data for completeness and accuracy to support daily premium application and reconciliation
  • Serve as a primary back-up to the Manager of C&F Stop Loss Accounting
  • Create and save Schedule/5500 reports and other client-facing deliverables from the ESL system
  • Communicate directly with internal teams and external partners, providing reporting support, reconciliation assistance, and resolution of premium variances
  • Coordinate and document business processes and standard operating procedures in a concise and clear manner
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and system enhancements to streamline operations
  • Support onboarding and training for new users in the ESL System
  • Manage eRequestor processing, escheatment review, and premium receipt applications
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university desired
  • 3+ years’ experience (6-8 preferred) in a mid to senior level finance and accounting position
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • High proficiency in premium accounting, reconciliation, and reporting tools
  • Medical stop loss insurance experience a plus
  • Connexure ESL (Formerly David Young Consulting) system experience desired

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $53,900.00 to a maximum of $79,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
