Job Description

 

A C&F Senior Surety Support Specialist is a utility position providing support to Surety Underwriting covering tasks performed by an Underwriting Technical Associate (UTA), Underwriting Assistant (UA), Claims Analyst, Producer Relations Specialist and/or Billing & Collections Specialist.  

 

What you will do:

UTA / UA:

  • Provide support to all regional underwriting teams.
  • Ensure policy transactions are booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet the corporate time service standards.  Such transactions include new business, renewals, riders, cancellations, close outs, etc.
  • File electronic documentation into the imaging system and label the documents appropriately, adhering to the corporate protocols.
  • Provide agencies with bond numbers via tracking system.
  • Assist in managing shared mailbox according to procedure to ensure timely handling and processing of all items.
  • Recommend operational improvements and efficiencies.
  • Assist with requirements, rollout and training of new systems.

Claims Analyst:

  • Assist with claims management process as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate set up of surety claims.

Producer Relations Specialist:

  • Back up the Producer Relations Specialist:
    • Handle producer appointments, powers of attorney, filings, third party platforms, producer terminations, corporate seals.
    • Bond verifications.
    • Maintain original indemnity agreements.
    • Maintain copies of certificates of authority, certificates of solvency, NJ disclosure statement, financial statements and other documents.
    • Pay invoices.

Billing & Collections Specialist:

 

  • Assists with the analysis and review of outstanding premiums and reconciliation of payments for the Surety book of business.
  • Assists with the reconciliation of large agency accounts, working with all teams to ensure payments are applied correctly in order to reduce the outstanding balance.
  • Collaborates with UW team regarding the collection of past due premium.
  • Assists in the research of billing disputes, account reconciliation, provides payment history as needed and responds immediately or on the same day they are received.
  • Collaborates with operations UA team in the reconciliation of accounts, ensures premium transactions are correctly represented in the billing system.
  • Assists in collaborating with the corporate Billing and Collections cash team regarding the application of cash, the transfer and correction of misapplied cash and the write-off of small, aged open balances.

General:

 

  • Timely response to requests and inquiries.
  • Communicate, as needed, with appropriate parties to obtain information required to complete transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Abide by departmental policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 6+ years of equivalent experience related to Surety operations.
  • Possess a high level of technical acumen.
  • Self-starter who works closely with underwriters and operations teams.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a multi-task environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and math skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion.
  • Strong Microsoft skills.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $65,000 to a maximum of $90,000. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
