Job Description

The Premium Auditor is responsible for conducting audits of policyholder records to ensure accurate calculation of insurance premiums, and assisting in the servicing of these audits after processed. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

What you will do:

  • Gather and verify data from insureds and brokers to assess the accuracy of their reported exposures, classifications, and premiums by engaging with policyholders, brokers, or agents to obtain necessary information.
  • Analyze policy information, exposures, and financial data to determine the appropriate premium amount based on S&S underwriting guidelines and industry regulations.
  • Conduct detailed premium audits on both non-admitted and admitted policies for various lines of insurance within S&S. These audits involve a detailed review of policies, policyholder records, payroll data, financial statements, and other relevant documents.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports and maintain accurate records of audit activities.
  • Stay current with guidelines and rules set by NCCI, various state test bureaus, and ISO.
  • Communicate detailed premium audit findings with insureds, brokers, and underwriters.
  • Review and handle premium audit disputes, including determining the merit of disputes and the appropriate action based on that determination. This includes completing re-audits if necessary and notifying the agent and/or policyholder of the results.
  • Serve as a resource for brokers, insureds, financial operations, legal collections, and underwriting with audit or classification questions.
  • Update internal policy admin systems and on-line audit database with final exposures, rates and class codes. 
  • Keep the manager informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; refer matters beyond limits of authority and expertise to manager for direction.
  • Provide one-on-one training to Operations staff, both onshore and offshore, as needed.  Serve as a mentor to junior audit analysts by providing guidance and sharing knowledge to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned

Communicate and collaborate with other departments within the corporation to answer questions, resolve issues, and identify ways to streamline processes.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Education equivalent to graduation from college, including courses in accounting and business, or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • 3+ years as a Premium Audit professional demonstrating a working knowledge of premium accounting methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of policy contract, company/regulatory manual rules and state bureau audit requirements.
  • Proficiency in computer systems.
  • Experience working with company underwriters as well as agents concerning coverages and basis of premium.
  • Must be able to travel as required (5-10%)
  • CPCU, APA or CIPA desirable but not required.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $52,200.00 to a maximum of $65,000.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
