Job Description

BSG is looking for a professional self-starter and resourceful team player, who truly adds value to the underwriter desks they support, through proactive communication, strong organization skills and a collaborative underwriting mindset. With deep knowledge of company tools, rating methods and business unit goals, this individual serves as the backbone of the underwriting team facilitating efficient workflow to ensure internal and external deadlines are duly met. Knowledge of state rules is a plus. With a strong ability to market face externally and manage agency communication effectively, this individual truly helps create capacity on the underwriter’s desk by taking on various tasks, both process and underwriting related. 

 

Competent in all phases of the following areas: Business Unit specific product lines and coverage, knowledge of underwriting support processes/procedures/workflow, and awareness of local Business Unit Strategy. In addition, manages relationships with agents & wholesalers, as well as peers and business partners. This position may need to be available for agency visits. Responsible for managing assigned work and resolving potentially conflicting priorities in collaboration with their leader.

 

What you will do for C&F:

  • Partners with Underwriters to establish support needs for renewals and/or new business policies (i.e., identify/gather relevant account information to quote and/or bind the policy; create exhibits, etc.).
  • Prepare documents and participate in pre-renewal meetings.
  • Prepares underwriting/pricing exhibits (i.e., exposures, experience rating, profit and loss analysis, expense models, updated account information, etc.).
  • Manages account documentation (i.e., proposals, agreement letters, reinsurance contracts, collateral agreements, policy change, endorsements, cancellations, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts.
  • Communicates with brokers/agencies, wholesalers, and internal departments. (i.e., researches and resolves issues, responds to inquiries and questions).
  • Coordinate with Operations Specialist to update internal systems and complete rating.
  • Prepare quotes for UW by reviewing exposures and experience rating, updating account information, rates and adjusting the price, as requested.
  • May complete renewals based on formal guidelines, commonly referred to as "Letter of Authority."
  • Provides information for regulatory compliance (i.e., statutory filings, proof of insurance, certificates).
  • Participates in projects/assignments as requested.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Three or more years’ insurance experience related to rate, quote, and issuance of P&C Insurance is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong property knowledge a plus
  • Independently able to assign class codes, handle bureau criticisms
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrates ability to access a situation promptly and take appropriate action
  • Able to meet standards set by manager and able to set high standards for self
  • Capable to work across complex organizations
  • Effective communication skills, in person and virtual

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $34,400.00 to a maximum of $64,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
