Job Description

This position would report directly to one of the Property Claims Managers. The Property Claims Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide overall administrative assistance to the entire Property Claims team, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 

What you will do for C&F:

  • Place all necessary information our Claims Document Database on every new Property claim to assist claims adjusters in the initial handling of all claims
  • Send Acknowledgment Letters on all new claims when requested by an adjuster
  • Process payment request forms on behalf of adjusters
  • Send copy of claim file to Counsel when requested by adjuster
  • Send coverage position letters when requested by adjuster
  • Complete ISO search and drop into Claims Document Database
  • Complete Legal X form when counsel is assigned to a claim
  • Close out Legal X entries when claim file is closed or when requested by adjuster
  • Communicate basic claim status to brokers
  • Download files into Claims Document Database
  • Follow up with adjusters and managers on Checklist items
  • Set up Encircle
  • Request police/fire reports
  • Request weather/hail/lightning reports
  • Draft any other letters requested by adjuster
  • Follow up with Insured and/or Public Adjuster for items requested and not received, including Proofs of Loss
  • Complete subrogation initiation form
  • Other duties as required and approved by the Claims Manager and SVP
  • Communicate effectively to ensure all transactions are accurate.
  • Pay careful attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in the company.
  • Establish effective organization and prioritization skills to maximize productivity.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Anticipate and identify problems and recommend ways to improve team efficiency and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Keep management informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; and, refer matters beyond limits of authority to manager for direction.
  • This position will not have any financial authority or direct access to any financial systems.

 

What you will bring to C&F

 

  • High school or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • No prior experience required in the claims area, but 3 to 5+ years of claims support experience is a plus
  • Must obtain and maintain required insurance industry designations/license(s)
  • Abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with corporate risk management controls

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $40,700.00 to a maximum of $59,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
