Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The student will spend their time in the Financial Services unit, which is located in Crum & Forster’s Morristown, New Jersey home office.  This position provides an excellent opportunity for observing and learning company operations and financial reporting bases within the insurance industry.  The student will be involved in data analysis, account reconciliations, special projects and assist in financial reporting.  Below is the job description.

 

What you will do:

  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations
  • Reach out to various departments to coordinate updates for quarterly CFO Certificate to senior management and Project List to Fairfax
  • Stay on top and document monthly accounting updates
  • Assist with internal control in regard to proper sign off of journal entries by both approver and preparer
  • Maintain communication with external auditors to gather, review and submit requested deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance to Sr. Accountant in completion of various SOX reconciliation.
  • Assist with various project management and process improvement projects.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Working towards undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: strong Excel skills are a must (Macros and Visual Basics a plus).
  • Highly organized individual able to effectively communicate with other staff and across departments within the organization.
  • Current GPA – 3.5 and greater
  • Previous Office experience

  • Work 20+ hours a week

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $16.00 to a maximum of $25.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
