Job Description

Information about the Line of Business:

Property Division includes the following profit centers:

  • General Property
  • Technical Risk
  • Inland Marine
  • Builders Risk Specialty
  • Crisis Management

Director, Risk Engineering

Primary Location: Remote or Morristown, NJ

What YOU will do:

  • Provide comprehensive support to underwriters and clients within the Property Division, including account reviews, coordination of engineering surveys, and oversight of third-party services related to loss prevention.
  • Assist the Builders Risk Specialty unit by evaluating building plans and identifying risk factors for new construction and renovation projects; conduct site visits as required.
  • Collaborate with Product Line Management to develop and enhance risk assessment tools for catastrophe exposures, and support underwriting initiatives where engineering expertise influences risk selection or pricing.
  • Participate in client engagements, including underwriting meetings for renewals and new business, as requested.
  • Design and deliver engineering presentations at industry conferences, conventions, associations, and related professional groups.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, emerging technologies, and best practices in loss prevention.
  • Contribute to training initiatives by preparing and presenting educational materials on pertinent topics.

 

What YOU will bring to C&F:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Highly Protected Risk (HPR) environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing engineering tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and a strong drive for success.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $100,400.00 to a maximum of $188,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
