Job Description

This is a summer intern for the Management Liability (ML) team in the Chicago office for Summer 2026. The internship is designed to provide a high-potential college junior with hands-on experience in underwriting, product knowledge, and broker engagement, while supporting the team’s strategic growth initiatives in the Chicago market.

 

This role will be on a hybrid schedule in the Chicago area with mimimum of 3 days in the office.  Start date is flexible in late May/early June.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Target Account Analysis:
    • Work on developing and refining target account lists based on C&F’s $6B in Gross Written Premium (GWP).
  • Underwriting Exposure:
    • Shadow underwriters during account reviews to gain practical insights into risk assessment and decision-making.
  • Product Knowledge:
    • Learn about all Executive Lines product offerings, with a focus on Management Liability.
    • Gain real-world experience in insurance underwriting and product management.
  • Intern Goals:
    • Develop professional relationships within the industry and C&F.
    • Build foundational knowledge for a potential career in Management Liability.
    • The internship will also serve as a platform to deepen broker relationships and drive Management Liability growth in the Chicago region.
    • The intern will be encouraged to participate in networking and professional development activities.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for broker engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred majors: Economics, Management, Business; however, all candidates will be considered.
  • Rising college junior (Class of 2027), with potential for return in Summer 2027 and/or full-time hire in 2028

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $16.00 to a maximum of $27.50. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
