Job Description

The AVP of Worker’s Compensation Claims will lead, manage and direct a regional claims department and will have direct management responsibilities for Claims Managers. Responsible for management and oversight of the claims handling approach, vision and direction for the adjusting of workers’ compensation claims. Establish and nurture a solid working relationship with all internal stakeholders including, but not limited to divisional leadership, underwriting, risk engineering, operations, and actuarial.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation skills, management skills, an analytical mindset, superior knowledge of the workers’ compensation claims process and litigation, and the ability to multitask in order to effectively manage time across various roles and responsibilities.

 

What you will do for C&F:

  • Managing multiple claims units/teams;
  • Requires general knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, regulations and compliance within the jurisdictions handled by the Southwest and Southeast Regions;
  • Provide strategic direction for the appropriate analysis of claims ensuring they are resolved in an equitable and timely;
  • Ensure the early recognition of exposures and setting of appropriate case reserves to ensure that future claim costs are accurately estimated;
  • Direct our claims strategy into the future, identify performance weaknesses, and ensure that our customer service exceeds expectations;
  • Provide strategic direction for the appropriate analysis of claims confirming they are resolved in an equitable and timely manner;
  • Create a strategy to ensure the timely and accurate documentation of claim files;
  • Establish and maintain internal and external relationships and lead a high performing and goal oriented team;
  • Empower the claims management and team and support the department and ensure quality claims metrics and service level agreements are continuously met;
  • Analyze policies, applicable law and facts/circumstances surrounding claims to determine appropriate coverage and compensability decisions;
  • Ensure compliance with customer service requests including special handling instructions.
  • Special projects as needed/assigned.

 

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience;
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and present information in a clear and succinct manner;
  • Ability to take part in active strategic discussions with staff and senior management;
  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs required.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $105,400.00 to a maximum of $198,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
