Our Surplus & Specialty Lines (S&S) Division develops customized coverage solutions for complex exposures, difficult-to-insure risks and niche segments of the market. Our product reach includes Sharing Economy, Environmental, Energy, Transportation, Construction, Excess & Umbrella, Primary Special Risk, Security, and other industry segments. Crum & Forster is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to lead the Standard Accounts Sharing Economy Business Unit. This team focuses on auto liability-driven risks in the gig economy and autonomous vehicle space, including platform-based mobility and delivery businesses, as well as companies involved in the manufacture, ownership, maintenance, testing, or operation of autonomous vehicles.
This role leads a small team of underwriters and is responsible for underwriting oversight, team development, and portfolio management in a fast-changing and specialized market. The business unit handles accounts with retentions up to $100,000 and works with both retail and wholesale brokers.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical underwriting experience, particularly in complex casualty business, and will be comfortable working with manuscript forms, customized policy language, and risks that do not fit traditional underwriting models.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $91,000.00 to a maximum of $171,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
